Abstract:With the increase of online activities comes the need to understand various users. Lurkers and lurking span all types of online interactivity, yet the notion of lurking is perhaps misunderstood. In multicultural online interactivity, different cultures perceive interactivity differently and users of English as a second or foreign language have different needs regarding comprehension and production of various languagebased exchanges. Lurking may be a viable form of online interactivity rather than a form of noninteractivity.
Key words:lurking; interactivity; online; multicultural communication
