Abstract: The paper dialyzed the author's impression of distance education in Australia. Distance education in Australia adopts dual mode, which means that traditional campus learners and nontraditional distance learners are all in the same university. At the same time, many requirements are the same to the two kinds of learners, including the requirement of instruction, exam, and diploma. In addition, economic support for learners is uniform approximately. The government converts the period of distance learners into that of fulltime learners, and provides funds for distance learners. Except for the expense of management, the two kinds of learners pay the same outlay. Because learners are in the same university, and the requirements of instruction and economic support are approximately same, distance education in Australia could develop steadily.
