Abstract: The extensive use of technology on college campuses is posing unique challenges for maintaining academic honesty. Technology is increasingly blamed for increased cases of academic dishonesty. This paper examines a unique case in which a private university in the United States has actually reduced academic cheating while technology use is on the increase. The paper recommends a number of ways to address the issue of academic dishonesty, including using preventive technologies, alternative assessment, offering training and resources and creating a culture of integrity.
Key words: academic integrity; ubiquitous technology; preventive technology; culture of integrity
